Dr. Linda Kirkpatrick is the
Instrumental Music Studies at
McDaniel College in Westminster, MD.
Degrees include a Bachelor and Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of North Texas, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Flute Performance/Pedagogy and Instrumental Conducting from the University of Maryland.
Linda’s book, The Pedagogical Techniques and Methods of Flutist William Montgomery, Edwin Mellen Press, 2006, is available through this website on the publication page under the More header. Her duties at McDaniel College include teaching flute and Instrumental Conducting, as well as coaching the flute quartet, flute choir and woodwind quintet. Linda is the musical director/conductor of the McDaniel College Band, the Westminster Symphony Orchestra, Flute Cocktail, a regional flute choir, and Lower Realm, a low-voiced flute ensemble.
Linda is the director/founder of the McDaniel Summer Music Camp, now in its 33rd year.
She was a member of the 2005, 2013 and 2014 National Flute Association Professional Flute Choirs, and conducted flute choir reading sessions at the 2007 and 2009 NFA conventions. In 2017, Linda conducted the Mid-Atlantic High School Flute Choir at the Flute Society of Washington, D.C, annual flute convention.
She is a frequent recitalist, conductor and adjudicator in MD and PA, and performs with the Mistral Winds Quintet.
